Walking in the Welsh Marches

M0LNX walking near Radnor Forest G0NFO (Bob) and Henry Steve above Claerwen - Elan Valley

Perhaps one of the less visited areas for walking, the Marcher counties of  Herefordshire, Shropshire, the old welsh county of Radnorshire, along with Worcestershire, provide some magnificent walking and are all within 1 hours drive of my home.

The river valleys of the Severn, Wye, Teme, Lugg and Arrow have a wide variety of farmland scenery, whilst the upland areas of the Clee Hills, Radnor Forest, Malvern, the Long Mynd, the Stiperstones, Wenlock Edge, the Elan Valley and numerous other border hills provide spectacular views from the Brecon Beacons in the south to the Snowdonia National Park in the north.

Normally the walking group consists of four of us - Bob (G0NFO), Steve, myself and Henry. We usually walk about 8 to 12 miles but Henry does about three times that!

G0NFO and M0LNX are hoping to combine their two interests in walking and ham radio by activating Sota hills as often as we can.
