Amateur Radio Station M0LNX

A bit about myself

I am a retired engineer/teacher and I have been interested in ham radio for about 50 years but only as a SWL until about 2 years ago. Encouraged by Bob - G0NFO - I took the Foundation exam at the Stourbridge radio club and became M3CWP in November 2002. After a year of getting to know the basics of ham radio communication I decided to take the last of the RAE exams which was held in December 2003 and became M0LNX in January 2004.

I am now getting interested in data modes and I have just started to learn the morse code with the intention of operating CW. I also hope to combine radio with walking by getting involved with the Sota activities.

My Station

The station is quite modest and is equipped to operate from 160m to 70cm, with the exception of 4m.

The main antenna is a half-size G5RV at about 7m above ground. This means I cannot operate on 160m or 80m but I am looking into ways of overcoming this. The main problem is limited space and one leg of the G5RV is over the roof of the house.

VHF and UHF are catered for by an internal 2m/70cm co-linear and a log-periodic on a rotator.
