The
best rig and highest power you can generate are almost useless
without a great antenna. A maxim among radio operators is that a cheap
rig and great antenna is better than an expensive rig and a lousy
antenna.
Your
antenna is the first and last link between you and the propagating
radio waves. This depends on the tradeoff in your budget and your
building skills. Don't cut corners here!
Buy
or build? There are great options in getting a commercial antenna,
with some good products having both quality and value. There are also
some duds to be found on that route.
If you
can build an antenna, with quality materials and some dexterity, you
can have the best of all possible choices.
