RF Chain Construction

The Kanga Kit is what is known as a "kit of parts" kit. It comes with boards and most of the parts. But it goes without saying that it's very important to inventory the parts before you start building a board, and very carefully determine the exact parts placement using the drawings provided.

Here, I'm starting construction on the 1rst LO, after a two week hiatus to do enclosure construction. The bigger of the two silver boxes is a MiniCircuits POS-200 VCO. It varies from 100MHz to 200MHz, as a control voltage is varied from 1V to 15V. Nifty little device. In this circuit, it is swept from 110MHz to 180MHz, which, when combined in the TUF-1 mixer (the littler of the two silver boxes) with a 110MHz signal gives you a potential sweep from 0MHz to 70MHz.
