Backup Devices

Backup devices are a useful addition to your PC system. As there name suggests they are used to backup your data and configured software.  There are several different types of drives and media to perform this operation. Further more there are a wide variety of system interfaces available on these peripherals. Common types of interface include: - IDE, SCSI, USB, FIREWIRE.  Once you have decided what type of interface to use the selection of type and capacity can be narrowed down.

A CDROM is now also a common method of backing up small amounts of data, the limitation is the 650-700MB capacity placed on the medium. You can use a CDRW which can be written to numerous times. A standard CD can only be written to once, and hence should be considered as a write once backup item.
