One of the factors for successful MS-contacts over long distances is the choice of the time point with the highest expected effectiveness.
In principle, the largest number of reflections can be expected when the radiant is at right angle to the line between the two stations and has an elevation of 45 degrees.
Using this program, the position of the radiant and the resulting efficiency can be calculated. The result is a table with the values for azimuth and elevation of the radiant (interesting for visual observation) , the efficiency for the main directions as well as the efficiency for the partnerstations location. The graph shows the value of the efficiency in different colors, with the white line marking the best direction over time. By the way, I published the first version of the program in DUBUS 1/1986, at that time still in simple BASIC under MS-DOS. It was time to rewrite and improve it. A feedback is very welcome. Have fun with meteor scatter and always good reflections. |
