A little history about how Amateur Radio played a part in my life..

My interest in electronics and Amateur radio started very early in life. My exposure came from my Great Uncle and cozen on a vacation trip up to lake Champlain in New York State. There was something about that late night listing to stations so far off that made a lasting impression. I guess being only 9 years old at the time and not having a Elmer to bring me along made for quite a few years before I became a licensed ham. But it  never stopped me from being a short wave listener. With this interest in Broadcast and the electronics  world developing, I happened to be privileged to attend a  High School that offered electronics. So between sports and electronics I loved to go to school.  I guess I was very lucky to have been exposed to component parts, tubes , transistors, ICs and some simple processors. (We are talking late 60's here.) Well I had a friend of mine, his brother was a HAM and I got to know him well. Needless to say the BUG bit me again. So bottom line I finely got licensed and held the call WB8MKT after 10 years from that first exposure.

Well a lot of years have gone by, Worked in the electronics and computer world with some very large companies like Motorola, Burroughs Business Machines and Scientific Atlanta. Some  smaller  companies doing two way and micro wave links,  A long with  working for a AM (WRBD) & FM (WCKO) broadcast station as  a engineer.  Doing things that most most broadcast engineers never get to do.

Well I can say that Amateur Radio did place that seed that set my coarse of life in motion. It continues today be a part of my life and a hobby that is an on going learning experience. Keeping my mind working on new things as technology moves on.
