Members

The official membership list is a mailing list maintained by the "mailman" mailing list server on super. "Mailman" has a web based interface where you can add or delete yourself from the list. If you're on the list, you should be able to see the other list members from there. If you do add yourself, please use the [email protected] form of your address. Note that this won't work unless you're inside AMD's firewall.

An online copy (updated ) of the membership list showing phone numbers and building location is also available.

We're slowly collecting some images of our members and their activities....

Meetings

AMDAARC currently meets from 12 to 1 on the first Tuesday (yeah, I know, the constitution says second week, but it's wrong) of each month in the glass walled conference room in the visitors lobby of Building 4. Lunch is not provided - there are microwave ovens available in the Building 4 cafeteria and (of course) food from the cafeteria can be brought to the meeting too. We're a bit irregular with meetings if the first Tuesday is very early in the month.

Joining AMDAARC

See the above note about how to add yourself to the e-mail list. AMDAARC does not have any dues, so joining the mailing list is all you need to do to join AMDAARC.

Sending e-mail to AMDAARC

Send e-mail to "amdaarc@super" (you can add the AMD.COM if you're outside AMD and it will be routed to all current AMDAARC members.

Minutes of previous meetings (ok, so our record keeping is awful....)

Repeater

Mike Pendley owns and operates the repeater on 147.36 MHz which we still call the AMDAARC repeater even though it isn't really associated with the club any more. The tone (131.8) is not always used.

The reason for the odd association of this repeater with the AMD club comes from long ago when Mike worked at Lockheed. When Lockheed moved out of Austin, AMD leased building 312. Mike's tower (and repeater) happened to still be at the site, causing a rather awkward situation where a non-AMD employee owned property in a building now leased by AMD. This confusing situation became even more interesting when AMD's security asked Mike to remove his radio equipment without considering that they had installed their own antenna on Mike's tower.

The solution to this mess was to scare up some AMD hams and create an AMD ham club to "host" the repeater at AMD and for Mike to allow AMD's security to put an antenna on Mike's tower.

The repeater now lives at a much better location but it is still known to the AMD Club as the Club repeater - not because it is owned or used by the club but because it was the catalyst that caused the club to be created.

Sunnyvale Club

There is a related club (K6AMD) in California. I don't think they have a web page. Craig Garcia is the best probable contact person.

Dresden Club

AMD Dresden also sports a radio club with the callsign DL0AMD! They have a web page that's a whole lot prettier than this one!

Where is the web page?

There are two copies of our web page. If you're internal to AMD, you're probably reading http://pcdwww/~brian/amdaarc/index.html. If you're external to AMD, you're reading http://www.qsl.net/k5amd/. The external web page isn't updated as often as the internal page.
