The Simpson memorial hall is the venue for
the societies weekly Tuesday evening meeting and has been since April 1990. Here the members teach the R.A.E. Morse code and the Novice R.A.E. All the
course's are FREE of charge but the students are expected to become members
of G5MS during the period of instruction.
The Simpson memorial hall is registered
with the City and Guilds institute of London as a test center for both the RAE and the NRAE. So there is no added stress traveling to and finding a
strange test center. It is also registered with the Radio society of Great Britain as a Morse testing center. Also in the building is the local public
library which is open late on the same night as the society's meetings. Which is a handy bonus for those who are studying at the club. An all round
excellent venue for the student and those wishing to peruse the hobby.
During the course of the year there are many lectures on
varying topics given by the members and from visiting lecturers. There are also local visits to places of interest to the radio
amateur. For visitors to the G5MS shack you can guarantee a friendly welcome. Join in on more than one interesting conversation and enjoy a refreshing cup
of tea with a choice of biscuits. All of which are free.
