in 1995, Ed McKinney - KB8QEU - being a greenhorn in Amateur Radio, and having a very active engineering mind, It was noticed there were no good linked repeaters to cover Southern West Virginia.

However, the methodology most linking was done was not adequate enough as well the sites mostly depended on the AC grid for power.

So, then he started of creating an interest in listing of repeaters through the area, and to which covered what. A lot of non-coverages showed up!

That really got him started in my engineering for such.

Chatting with many repeater SYSOPs, Ed learned a lot! However, he sensed that things can be better.

So, he really started putting the plans together.
