Boom Mic Interface
Boom mic and headphone circuits are shown below. The ........
These mic and headphone boxes are .....
The mic box has ....
Below is and earlier version that can now be upgraded with the additional circuitry. This box has mic, headphone and PTT included and controls 1 radio. The modular output socket allows for various patch leads to be inserted where the box shown above has a number of options wired in and always availabe.
The pot on one side allows for the mic gain to be adjusted so the radio can be left setup and settings for that headset can be adjusted outside of the radio. This is a real bonus when 2 or more are using their own gear with the same radio in a contest or operators change from one radio to another and take their equipment with them.
The PTT socket on the other side is where the foot switch is connected. On the ends are sockest from the headset and the other end has headphone and mic sockets to the radio. An additional PTT switch could also be included and located on top of the box in parallel witht eh foot switch connections.
Below is early example of a 2 radio switching box for mic, headphone and PTT.
Switch to the left and the left radio transmits only. Switch to the right and only the right radio transmist only. With the switch in the middle, both radio with transmit. While the PTT works in a dedicated manner, the headphone switching can be varied to suit. In this early example, when the switch is in the middle position, audio from the left radio is fed to the left phone and the right radio audio is fed to the right. When switching to the left radio, audio from that radio is sent to both phones and a small amount from the right radio fed into the phones through resistors. Adjustment of the resistor value will ensurn the secondry audion is heard but not over powering.
