Ian's Story

Ian SextonIan Sexton (ZL1PZ) was interested in radio from his teenage years. However, on the day he received his amateur licence war broke out and ham radio activity was prohibited. Ian joined the New Zealand Air Force in 1942 and studied radar technology. In 1943, he served in the Solomon Islands as a radar and radio technician, just after the American forces drove the Japanese from Guadalcanal.
