SILENT KEYS
It is with deep regret that we record the passing of two of our long standing members
Noelle GodfreyNoelle Godfrey
WARO is very sorry to hear of the death of Noelle Godfrey on May 28th. Noelle has been an Associate Member of WARO since 1978, longer than any other ZL Associate, and an extremely loyal supporter along with her OM, Jumbo( Arthur) ZL1HV.

Noelle was a great knitter and made many jerseys and other delightfully different articles for Conference raffles and other occasions when WARO was fund-raising. She attended WARO AGMs and special WARO birthdays - notably a 21st Celebration held on the North Shore.

In recent years age and illness have kept Noelle away from meetings, but WARO will not forget her caring and loyal support over the years. We extend our sympathy to the Godfrey family.

Tribute given at Noelle's funeral on behalf of WARO
Good afternoon.   My name is Rosemary Boshier ZL1RO. I would like to pay tribute to Noelle's association with WARO the New Zealand Women Amateur Radio Operators Organisation.

I first met Noelle at an amateur radio conference many years ago, I think in the mid 70s . She frequently accompanied Arthur to Amateur Radio Conferences in many parts of New Zealand and she enthusiastically took part in the programme provided for Ladies attending such conferences. She enjoyed the company of the lady Amateur Radio Operators and they in turn looked forward to meeting Noelle year after year.

Eventually Noelle joined WARO as a non-transmitting associate member in 1978 and remained a loyal and supportive member. In recent years ill health prevented her from attending WARO functions but she was always remembered at our gatherings.

She was a knitter of some renown and donated beautifully knitted goods and soft toys to be raffled at Amateur Radio Conferences. Not content with that she also got out there and charmed people into buying raffle tickets for the items she donated. She wrote poetry from time to time and I would like to read you a verse attached to a jersey she donated for a raffle:
