10 October - a week after we arrived home in Timaru

Sharron ZL3AE - A week later and the radio bands are still full of YLs (it's great to hear) and we were to host Inger OZ7AGR and Bjarne OZ2UV as they finished their tour of the South Island. Unfortunately their radio could not work the same band widths as here, but the telephone rang one evening and Inger spoke from Alexandra. They had motored down the West Coast and were returning to Christchurch to fly home, Could they come the next day?

Of course! We met them in town and took them to our home and we didn't stop talking all evening. Memories of our great YL2000 Meet and all the people involved. I had received my photo so we spent ages trying to list everyone. However Inge tells me she now has the photo and the official listing. Thanks Bev.

Bjarne was very interested in our radio set up, so Glenn and Bjarne talked radio while Inger and I talked families ......strange that . The next day we drove around town and then met Glenn and Aaron for lunch before Inger and Bjarne set off to travel to Christchurch and back to Denmark, A great opportunity to share a little of Europe and also to give an insight into our place here.

Well, now I have to add several contacts (real this time) to my Century Award log, and it should not be long before I am sending this one away. Thanks everyone for a friendly, well organised, marvellous meeting, and I look forward to speaking to many of you again over the next few months.

Sponsorship News from Celia ZLlALK
Well, YL2000 has been and gone and what a good time we all had meeting - some for the first time - DX YLs we had sponsored into WARO. It is always a thrill to actually meet face to face for the first time ........ and continues to be worthwhile however many times we meet up, I have been fortunate enough to meet my sponsored YLs in England, USA, Australia and Canada, and here in NZ, I have just met my Japanese sponsor.

One of the results of all the talking at YL2000 is the number of new sponsorships that have been arranged. This is great! I have heard of the following YLs being sponsored and I suspect there will be more yet. WELCOME to all of you and thanks to the ZL YLs who are arranging the sponsorships. We all look forward to hearing more details about these members in the future.

If any ZL YLs do want to sponsor DX YLs, please send the $5 sponsored YL sub to Sharron ZL3AE, our treasurer, with name and address of the sponsored YL. Then I would appreciate a note too, so that as Sponsorship Secretary, I can keep my data base up to date.

Maya OHlMK and Ted OHlBV had 35 hours flying, followed by a 12 hour boat journey before they got back to their home in Finland.

Flo KU7F arrived at the aiport in Seattle with an old Passport. Fortunately for her the current one was at home. She had picked up the wrong one.
