The Horse Magic Show
Jacqueline ZLlJAQ - In the afternoon we went to the Horse Magic Show at the Cambridge Thoroughbred Lodge. Lost again and we nearly ended up at Karapiro. We saw various breeds of horses beautifully groomed and carrying riders dressed in national costume. Some horses could do tricks, one could shake its head for `no' and turn its head for `yes'. Another could curtsy and a little black miniature horse wanted to bite the girl who was leading it.

The Vilagrad Winery
The grand banquet dinner was held at the Vilagrad winery. A large crowd, lovely surroundings and a wonderful meal. A roast was done on a spit and ample dishes to tempt everyone. A large crowd of YLs and OMs enjoyed lovely surroundings, a sumptuous meal, hours of dancing, reciprocal gifts and raffles drawn. A grand finale to the formal part to a wonderful weekend. I received a chocolate fish for having changed what I was wearing three times before I left the motel - I think Eileen ZLlBRX dobbed me in. She and Fred were staying in the motel unit next to us.I However I enjoyed my chocolate fish- As there were so many reciprocal gifts given, everyone, OMs and YLs received a gift by way of a Lucky Dip.

Alison ZLl TXQ - We boarded one of the buses at the Manor Inn for the Sunday night function at the Vilagrad winery. On anival, we sat at the first empty table we came to and were interested to see who would join us at the table. Nine people soon introduced themselves and settled in to enjoy the evening.

Grant ZL2UZB and Sally-Anne ZLl UZB were part of our merry group and so was Sully-Anne's sponsored DX YL Evelyne F5RPB! I was kept entertained all night by the friendly banter between Sally-Anne and Evelyne as they got to know one another.

It was an incredabe night with so many people from different countries and different walks of life mixing ad mingling with so much fiendship andd camaradie. Wonderful music and everyone joining in the fun and dancing. Later in the evenzing, there was an enormous conga that circulated amongst all the tables. Language was no barrier at all.

A real highlight of the evening was when the raffles were drawn. The quilt raffle came first and the winner's name was Grant ZL2UZB Sally-Anne and Grant and Evelyne rushed up to choose which of the two quilts they would have Sally-Anne immediately gave the quilt to Evelyne to take back to France with her. When the third rafflee was drawn for the wall hanging (which was really like a third quilt), Evelyne was the winner. She duly presented the wall hanging to Sally-Anne!!!

We understand that the quilt has pride of place on the wall of their house in France. What a thrill when I found that my ticket for the second raffle had won first prize! A beautiful painting of a tui in a kowhai tree now has pride of place in the wall in our lounge Thanks to Norma ZLlANP who painted it.
The second quilt went to Laureen ZLlBTP, The place mats made by Alison ZLlTXQ were won by Ruth I'I9ESZ.
