WARO Patron Pearl ZL2QY
There was a short video of WAR0 Patron Pearl ZLZQY sending greetings to YL2000 from her hospital bed. Somehow it made the evening complete to have Pearl there in our midst. Greetings to you Pearl from us all.
Sharron ZL3AE - We were lucky to meet our Patron Pearl ZL2QY, via the medium of video. Thanks very much to all the people involved in the making of that film. It certainly made her efforts in amateur radio over all the years so special, and I personally was moved by her message to us..

Ruth IT9ESZ
The Show and Tell part of the evening was followed by the announcement that the International YL2002 Meet was to be at Palermo in Sicily. Ruth IT9ESZ presented a video introducing Palermo and Sicily to the assembled gathering. Palermo has many ancient buildings of architectural interest, and the island of Sicily is one of great natural beauty.

The Cake
Inger OZ'7AGR and Bjarne OZ2UV made a postcard from their photo of the cake. They wrote: It has been a marvellous experience for us to join the YL International Meeting in New Zealand. It was wonderful to be one of the group. You and all the ZLs did a big job and you all made us feel welcome as a ham operator and in your beautiful country. We have only happy memories.

Sunday morning - a forum for YLs
Awards were presented by Carolyn ZL2JP.
Jacqueline ZLl JAQ - While en route to the various destinations VHF radio contacts were made on the buses and between buses by YLs seeking their award. Two YLs consecrated their 2 metre QSOs for the International YL Award by carefully stepping out a 2 metre length between them.
Sharron ZL3AE - On Sunday I decided to make several 'radio' contacts to get the
various awards on offer, and kept Carolyn busy. Congratulations on a great job. Well done Carolyn! I made several eyeball contacts, and several `radio' contacts with very good reports as the person was generally standing very close, but had lots of fun making friends, sharing laughter and several good stories, and I think that's what radio is all about.

Hamilton Gardens
Ruth LA6ZH - Having read about the Hamilton Gardens in the WAR0 Bulletin I had looked forward to strolling there myself but during and after the YL Forum the rain was pouring down., How nice then that an OM took me under his umbrella for a short walk so I could enjoy the Japanese Garden and a few other gardens after all.
