New Caledonia
A very strange set of circumstances were about to unfold that would set my path for DX-Peditions over the next 10 years. I bought a photocopier for my Electronics company in early 1981. A few months later I found out that I had won a trip to Noumea because my name had been drawn as the prize winner for all those who had bought photocopiers from Nashua in the month of July '91. I immediately applied to the authorities for permission to operate an Amateur Radio station in New Caledonia and after a long wait I received my first DX call sign, FK0RR. The next ten days were just great for propagation on all bands and I got my first taste of being at the other end of the DX pileups. For more information and great photos of Noumea CLICK HERE
