The landscape of clandestine radio changes alongside the wind of politics.  Opposition groups sometimes win, lose funding and support, and occasionally disappear for unknown reasons.  Clandestine radio stations are not meant to last, and they survive for only as long as is feasible for their backers.  Below is a database of stations that have recently disappeared from the airwaves.

                in covert funding from the CIA between 1992 and 1996, when the US government began to support the
                National Accord in London.

                between 1993 and 1994, and finally from its own site in northern Iraq until it was destroyed in 1996.
