This is the runway at Little Cayman International Airport (yes, that is a field). Little Cayman is the smallest of the three Cayman Islands (Grand Cayman and Cayman Brac are the other two) and lies approximately 500 miles due south of Miami. Less than 100 full time residents live on the island. It is famous as being one of the best dive sites in the world, because of the Little Cayman Wall. The wall lies a few hundred yards off shore and is a cliff with a sheer drop off thousands of feet to the ocean floor below. We snorkeled out to the wall during the trip and I can remember looking out into pure blackness where the wall dropped.
