All packed up and ready to go Tuesday, November 24, 1992. The purpose of this trip was to 1.Enjoy the beach and 2.Operate the 1992 CQWW CW contest as a single band 7 MHz entry. The last Dxpedition I had taken (Montserrat, 1988) was a lot of fun, but I spent almost 90% of my time on the radio and didn't get to enjoy the island as much as I should have. This time I wanted to spend 60% of the time on the beach and 40% of the time on the air. I chose 40M single band because 40M is my favorite band and since I would only have to operate about 30 hours of the contest during the weekend, I wouldn't be a zombie after it was done.

I chose to stay at Ron Sefton's rental on Little Cayman Island. Ron used to have an apartment on the island you could rent by the week at a very reasonable rate. The apartment rental included access to the station shown in the pictures to follow. Also, Sun Country Airlines offered a $229.00 round trip fare to Grand Cayman from Dallas-Fort Worth airport and the same day connecting flight to Little Cayman was only about $80 round trip. This all fit into the budget of a young student.

All of the antennas, power supplies etc. were provided at the station. I brought along my Icom IC-735, a GRID 286 (remember the 286 processor?) laptop loaded with CT for logging and a Bencher paddle.
