Built up an interface for the 817 using the Opto Isolator for keying circut and two transformers for audio in and out. I made 3 contacts and then the thing stopped working. Sound card still works, Plays an audio CD and the radio works in all modes except digital. I have adjusted the ALC level, sound and Wave levels until I am blue in the face. And I was just beginning to get addicted. Back to the drawing board, unless you can recommend something. 73's de Mike KE7MH

Was just interested in finding out more about the Lochridge/Lockrig in our family. Was hoping to find out where the old castle was located. Saw it on the travelers chanel once, but they didn't tell where. My great uncle who fought in WWWII was invited there, spent a lot of time there and was a direct descendent of the Lochridges. He fought on the Isle of Britiany with the British, took some of his friends up to the castle etc. If you come across any information, please e-mail me? Thanks, Melody

I have worked 20 meters so far with George, K2ONP & John, N1JP and one guy in California who gave he heat my first QSO because my signal was too loud and my IMD was -16. IMD?? I had no idea what he was talking abt and I told him so and the guy wouldn't talk to me any more. Not a good impression my first qso out of the capital district. I have been working on a new digital modulation scheme similar to PSK31, but it is targeted for automatic EMAIL. Uses PSK but at a modulation frequency that is an integer divisor of a soundblaster 11025 sample rate and a bit rate that is also numerically related. Uses a fixed length 3 of 6 code for error detection, and since it is fixed, time slotted transmissions are schedulued with quartz accuracy. The entire captured sample audio is logged for multiple pass post process to allow considerable frequency drift. Repeat requested packets are all retained for frame substitution and bit substitution with three or more transmissions. Packets are sequence numbered for selective retry. I plan to call this PSK3of6 VE7CYB

The background sound (music, psk31 etc.) on the web page will hang up a slow computer. My 350 MHz PC works fine but the old 66MHz 486DX2 PC hangs up and has to be interrupted to end the task. I have observed this on any web page that plays unsolicited music. Since many Hams use an old machine in the ham shack, you may be losing some of your audience. Larry :-}

Interesting site. Am xtra, licenced 15 Mar 1977. Installed packet system last year. Hve tried to find something to like abt it. For the most part it just sits there unused. Did use the DX spot for a while. There is something for everyone in amateur radio. Thought packet wud broaden my use of the hobby. At this point am considering giving the system to some no code that wud use it. I hve really tried to find something to like abt vhf.uhf but it just is not there for me, guess I am just a confirmed CW DXer. Charlie Royal WD5JI West Tx Section Manager.

Nice site Ernie. Glad you got W95sstv going. Sounds like you have to play with your audio levels a little to get pictures. Also sont run the audio through cw filter.. you need the bandwidth for the slowscan cideo. 73 frank
