This Rib Takes the Beating This is the rib that I lean against and sit on, the backrest is hinged to the top so it flips up and becomes a higher seat. ( Of course when you sit up on top, you now have drastically changed the center of gravity and are likely to go in the drink.) That is why the rib has that flat top, it makes it easier to use small hinges. You will want to taper the ends of the flat top in order to keep the vinyl from tearing on the sharp corners. Simply round off both the inside and outside corners to a large smooth radius. This is handy when you want to sit up high in order to see better, or fish. Note the upright in the middle of the rib. The upright should be of sufficent width to hold your weight, so you don't break the rib. Also this picture shows the oak block better. |
