The preamble is given first, then the name and address of the recipient. The telephone number is given after the address.

Following the phone number you should say “break” and let off your mike key for approximately 5 seconds to see if the receiving station interrupts for fills. Hearing nothing you would continue with the text of the message.

Say “break” at the end of the text, then give the signature, which is not included in the word count of the message.

After giving the signature you should say “end, xx more.” The xx is the number of messages you have left to transmit to him, if you have no more messages to transmit then you would say “end, no more” instead of a number for xx. Then let off your mike key again to see if the receiving station has any questions. When the receiving station is sure he has copied the message correctly he will say “ Roger.”

Also, never use “Q” signals on a phone net.
