TARA sponsors an ARRL Volunteer Examiner Team. Our team has test sessions on the second Saturday of even numbered months. All sessions are at the Museum Of Radio and Technology at 9:00am with the exception of the August session, which is at the Huntington Hamfest at 11:30am. You do not have to pre-register, walk-ins are welcome. Notice - Due to covid 19 our policy allowing walk-ins may change as to comply with any recent changes to state law regarding Covid and indoor events. Click on "Events" for current testing details. All license classes are given. The standard test fee is $15.00. You will need to bring a picture I.D., a copy of your current license if you are upgrading, and any not yet acted upon CSCE you may have. If you wish to use a calculator you are welcome to do so, but you will need to bring a traditional calc, as cell phone calcs are not allowed as per FCC rules and phones must be shut down during testing.

Important - New candidates wishing to test must have a FCC Registration Number (FRN) before arriving at the test session. The FCC will no longer accept a Social Security Number in lieu of a FRN. If you don't have a FRN, you can register for one here.

If you already have a FRN, do not apply for another one. Use the one you have.

All candidates are now required by FCC to supply an e-mail address on their application. This is no longer optonal.

The museum is located at:   Museum of Radio and Technology, 1640 Florence Ave, Huntington, WV 25701.
