Our club participated in the fun of field day. We ran 3 stations including one entirely on battery power. We utilized both phone and CW methods and scored 530 points. Most importantly we all had a lot of fun.
The big excitement this year centered around our club antenna project. Starting with plans to create a Battle Creek antenna turned into our own design we fondly call the Battelle Creek! We are still finalizing the design of this antenna. The antenna is being built to work 40, 80 and 160 meter bands. The design of the original plans has several flaws including stress points that will cause the structure to fail. Our redesign will allow a 3 man team to easily erect this large vertical.
