1. ASOC RESTRICTED GRADE EXAMINATION
Part I - Written test

It shall comprise of one paper containing two sections as under:

Section I : Radio Theory and Practice

Elementary Electricity and Magnetism, Elementary Theory of Alternating Current, Thermionic Valves, Radio Receivers, Transmitters, Radio Propagation, Aerials and Frequency measurement. Note: Applicants holding Degree in Telecommunications or Electronics & Electrical Communications or a Degree recognized by the Central Govt. as equivalent to the above degree shall be exempted from appearing Section I of the test.

Section II: National & International Regulations

Applicable to the operation of Amateur Station and those relating to the working of station generally. The above written test is of 1-hour duration. The maximum marks are 100 and candidates must secure at least 40% in each section in 50% in aggregate for a pass.

ASOC GRADE II EXAMINATION

Part I - Written Test
Same syllabus as for ASOC Restricted Grade Examination.


Part II - Morse
Section I : Morse receiving (Speed: 5 WPM)
Section II : Morse sending (Speed: 5 WPM)
A candidate is required to pass both in Part I and Part II simultaneously.

 

ASOC GRADE I EXAMINATION

Part I - Written Test
Same syllabus as for the Grade II Examination. The test is of 2 hours duration. The maximum marks are 100 and candidates must secure 50% in each section and 55% in aggregate for a pass.

Part II - Morse
Section I : Morse receiving (Speed: 8 WPM)
Section II : Morse sending (Speed: 8 WPM)
A candidate is required to pass both in Part I and Part II simultaneously.

Part I - Written Test
Section I : Radio Theory and Practice
In addition to the syllabus prescribed for Amateur Station Operator’s Grade II Examination, following terms shall be included in the syllabus of ASOC Advanced Grade Examination. Motors and Generators - Construction of transformers, transformer losses, transformers as a matching device - Measuring instruments - Moving coil and moving iron meters, frequency meters - Semiconductor devices and Transistors - Power supplies - Frequency Modulation - Elementary principals of transmission and reception of facsimile, Television and single side band - Propagation - Aerials - Space communications - Elementary principles of communication via satellite.
Section II : National and International Regulations
Same syllabus as prescribed for Amateur Station Operator’s Grade II examination. The test is of 3 hours duration. The maximum marks are 100 and candidates must secure at least 50% in each section and 60% in aggregate for a pass.


Part II - Morse
Same syllabus as prescribed for Amateur Station Operator’s Grade I examination. A candidate is required to pass both in Part I and Part II simultaneously.
Note: The holders of Amateur Wireless Telegraph Station licence Grade I shall however be exempted from Part II.
