1996 - VK6/

1996 was the year of the ALARAMEET in Perth when members of the Australian Ladies' Amateur Radio Association got together for their three-yearly convention. 80 people attended the MEET, YLs and their Oms, some coming from overseas whilst other VKs left their home states and spent 2 to 3 months caravanning across the continent to get to Western Australia.

Various meetings and festivities were held and sightseeing trips arranged. We saw the beautiful wildflowers in Kings Park overlooking the city of Perth, took a bus trip to Mundaring Weir and enjoyed a couple of ferry trips - one down the Swan River and the other across to Rottnest Island.

Bev, VK6DE, the current President of ALARA welcomed us all, and Elizabeth, VE7YL, took the opportunity to present me with the CLARA YL DXCC Plaque (No.2) for which I had qualified.
