Antennas for the Higher
Bands
Contact
This antenna is tried and proven, easy to make and forgiving of a few mistakes in construction.
The distance from the driving element to the reflector is 19mm at the center, but decreases at the edges due to the shape of the reflector, vvarying this distance will vary the resonance and SWR...I've not compared this reflector to a flat plate, I used it as it was laying around in my shed and it was about the right size, it might work a little like a Corner Reflector, it does work well, though a flat plate would be easier to use.
This reflector is 250mm long.
The feed system I have used is built around a "N" chassis conector. If you use thinner wire, you may need to add insulating spacers at the ends to stiffen the radiating element.
The Double Double Diamond for 2.4 GHz
These pics show this antenna when it was used for some experiments with Mesh nets on 2.4 GHz with a group of Hams near me.
