
History
Ham radio is a good hobby to promote friendship and further our knowledge of radio communication. A group of radio enthusiasts started to form the association sometime in September 1989.
On May 3,1991 our association was registered as a non-profit organization under the Society Act of British Columbia. We are base in Vancouver, B.C. The vision of Filipino-Canadian founders was to keep the Filipino sense of kinship and family values alive.
Our founders started out on Citizens Band Radio (Channel 30) and that began as a small group members now boasts of 172 members, many of whom are now licensed amateur radio operators. Filipino CB handles is still being used to keep our strong connection to our CB roots.
On September 29, 2000 Radio Pinoy Association of B.C. Amateur Radio Club Call Sign was registered under Industry Canada as (VA7RPA ) operating Repeater Frequency UHF 443.550 +5 mhz. Our group TX and RX CB Channel 30 "27.305 Mhz", 147.420 mhz simplex, 147.555 mhz simplex, 14.27 mhz, and this year ( ECHOLINK ) was discovered as a new advanced computer telephony combined with amateur radio which provides an excellent worldwide communication.
Our Association continues to do its part in activities and public assistance project in B.C. We have come a long way Radio Pinoy. Mabuhay (VA7RPA )!
