Sterling Park Amateur Radio Club
2015 Field Day

Field Day 2015 will be held on Friday, 26 June 15 from 1900-2000 Local for antenna rope hanging, Saturday, 27 Jun 15 at 1000 Local, when set up began, and ends on Sunday, 28 Jun 15 at 1400 Local at Park View High School in Sterling, VA.

We will be using the football team rooms instead of setting up on the practice soccer field.  This is due to the high probability of rain.  This one story building is at the southwest corner of the Park View High School grounds.  To get there, drive though the school parking lot on the south side of the Park View HS grounds to the rear of the log.  Walk through the gate to the one story building.  The door should be open.

Generally, the draft plan remains the same, except we are setting up in one room instead of several canopies and the antennas will be in different places.  The radios, computers, tables, chairs, schedule, etc will remain the same.

The Final Results
Dick, W2YE, noticed that the 2015 field day results were published.  SPARC K4NVA station did:

Overall ranking was 840 of 2720 entries with 2192 points and 502 QSOs

  1st in 3AC in Virginia
  28th overall in Virginia
  1st in 3AC  Roanoke Division
  79th overall in Roanoke Division
10th overall in 3AC of all entries.

The weather was really bad. We changed operating locations and our revised antenna situation was not good. In addition, we did not have enough operators to keep the radios on the air.

Overall, I am happy we did as well as we did.

And of course we found a category, i.e., 3AC,  were we can be Number 1.

I had fun.
73, Gordon, NQ4K

The Plan
1 July 2015:  The final plan as executed during Field Day. This changed significantly from the original plan due to heavy rain on Saturday.  We moved to a building and did not use canopies, we used commercial power instead of the club generator cure to safety concerns.  Our operator schedule was not full. We had fewer visitors than anticipated.  Still we had a good time.
