SPARC Club Contesting

SPARC club members participate in several ARRL and CQ contests with a CLUB entry. Several ARRL events allow for club entries and some CQ contests allow for Club and Team entries.

Background

The ARRL General Rules state that eight ARRL sponsored contests are designated as Affiliated Club Competitions. SPARC participates as a "Local" club in that we submit 10 or fewer entries per contest. SPARC participates in some, but not all, of the following contests:

* January VHF Sweepstake
* January RTTY Roundup
* February & March International DX Contests (Phone and CW)
* June VHF QSO Party
* September VHF QSO Party
* November Sweepstakes (CW and Phone)
* December 160-Meter Contest
* December 10-Meter Contest

Some of the CQ WW contests allow for Contesting.
     For Team Contesting, a team consists of any five radio amateurs operating in the single operator category. Lists of team members are due before the start of the contest. The contests permitting team contesting are:

 * CQ WW DX ( October - Phone, November - CW).

     CQ WW also provides for Club competition, defined as a minimum of three logs received. A list of club members with their score is submitted after the contest. These contests are:

* 160-Meter DX Contest (January - CW, February - SSB)
* CQ WW WPX (March - SSB, May - CW)
* CQ WW DX ( October - Phone, November - CW)

WA2BCK Tips on Contest Operating

Tom, WA2BCK, is a very good contest operator, club member, and enthusiastic participant in SPARC field days. In this presentation (~700 KB PDF), he summarizes his experience to help others achieve their contesting goals.
