FEMA Courses

All Santa Fe ARES members are expected to take the basic Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Incident Command System (ICS) / National Incident Management System (NIMS) courses to enable them to participate within the Incident Command System. Updated versions of each course are common. Many were revised in 2018, so if you have taken a previous version, you may want to review the new version. These independent study (IS) courses may be taken online on the fema.gov website.

Following are the required, basic courses:
IS-100.c Introduction to the Incident Command System, ICS 100
IS-200.c" Basic Incident Command System for Initial Response
IS-700.b An Introduction to the National Incident Management System
IS-800.d National Response Framework, an Introduction

American Radio Relay League (ARRL) Course
