SCCARA and the Red Cross, 1960's

SCCARA has a long history of working closely with the San Jose Red Cross for disaster communications.

(The exact date of this set isn't known, but the first photo shows a QSL card with the call WB6LFU.   That puts these in the mid to late 1960's.   The class and the station photos were taken on the same day.)

(each jpg about 1.5 MB)

Not only has SCCARA had a station at the San Jose Red Cross, but we've taught amateur radio classes there too.

(each jpg about 1.5 MB)

SCCARA participated in the Red Cross's disaster drills, providing emergency communications.
And a little publicity help from Barnyard Kutie and Fair Princess doesn't hurt either!

(each jpg about 2 MB)

Well, they needed someone to play the part of injured people!
