The following awards are offered
by the Pacific Northwest VHF Society. In the case of annual
awards, the first year of eligibility will be 2002 with the awards
being given at the 2003 Pacific Northwest VHF Conference.
The Major Contest Parallel Awards commenced with the January 2002
ARRL VHF Contest.
Most
Worked Pacific Northwest Grids (Annual Award)
Awarded annually by the Pacific
Northwest VHF Society (PNWVHFS) to the amateur that works
the most Pacific Northwest grid-squares. The purpose
of this award is to foster activity within the weak-signal
portions of the amateur VHF and higher bands in the Pacific
Northwest. All amateur operators are eligible for this
award.
Eligible grids are those grids
that are at least partially within the states of Washington,
Oregon, Idaho, and within the province of British Columbia.
Eligible frequencies are amateur bands 50 MHz and higher.
Eligible modes are all allowed weak-signal modes for that
band including digital modes. FM is not a weak-signal
mode. Use of man-made satellites, repeaters, linear
translators, etc. are not allowed. Cross-band
contacts are not allowed.
Award classes: Effective
01 January 2003 this is a single class award. In the case
of ties, duplicate awards will be given.
To be eligible for this award,
all contacts must have taken place between 00:01 UTC 01 January
and 23:59 UTC 31 December of each calendar year. Logs
in standard ARRL format must be submitted to the PNWVHFS by
01 March of the following calendar year. Electronic logs are
allowed and encouraged. The awards will be presented
each year at the annual meeting of the PNWVHFS.
The PNWVHFS Award committee
reserves the right to issue awards only for those bands where
significant competition existed as evidenced by submitted
logs (3 or more logs must be submitted).

Most
Pacific Northwest Grids Operated From (Annual Award)
Awarded annually by the Pacific
Northwest VHF Society (PNWVHFS) to the amateur that operates
from the most Pacific Northwest grid-squares. The purpose
of this award is to foster rover-type activity within the
weak-signal portions of the amateur VHF and higher bands in
the Pacific Northwest. All amateur operators are eligible
for this award.
Eligible grids are those grids
that are at least partially within the states of Washington,
Oregon, Idaho, and within the province of British Columbia.
All-water grids are eligible as long as they reside, at least
in part, within the territorial waters adjacent to Washington,
Oregon or British Columbia as defined by International Maritime
Law. Eligible frequencies are amateur bands 50 MHz and
higher. Eligible modes are all allowed weak-signal modes
for that band including digital modes. FM is not a weak-signal
mode. Use of man-made satellites, repeaters, linear
translators, etc. are not allowed. Cross-band contacts
are not allowed.

rover and fixed operations are claimed for credit).
In the case of Two-Operator Rovers, each operator will receive
the award. To be claimed as a Two-Operator team, both
team members must have operated as a team for all claimed
contacts.
A "running score" page will
be added to the PNWVHFS website once reports start coming
in. Reports should be submitted on a regular basis to
[email protected] by all that wish to be in the running
for this award.

Major
Contest Parallel Awards
Awarded by the Pacific Northwest
VHF Society (PNWVHFS) in conjunction with the major VHF+ contests
to the amateur from the PNWVHFS region (Idaho, Oregon, Washington,
British Columbia) who posts the highest scores in each of these
contests.
Award classes: Same classes
as are used by the major officiating body (ARRL, CQ, etc.).
Eligible Contests: All
ARRL contests for bands 50 MHz and higher & CQ VHF Contest.
To be eligible, forward copies
of your submitted logs to [email protected] including the
summary sheet information. If you do not submit electronic
logs send your email to [email protected] for information
about where to send your hard copy log. Scores for PNWVHFS
region will be posted on the PNWVHFS website. The PNWVHFS
award committe will not score or cross-check the logs.
The awards will be announced shortly after the contest (hopefully
within 45 days) and formally presented each year at the annual
meeting of the PNWVHFS.

Addendum March
2004:
Only those logs submitted to the PNWVHFS awards chair by the
official deadline of the sponsor of the contest (ARRL, CQ,
etc) will be considered and posted on the website.

Pacific
Northwest VHF'er of the Year
Awarded annually by the Pacific
Northwest VHF Society (PNWVHFS) this award is given to the amateur(s)
in the Pacific Northwest who have gone above and beyond the
call to further VHF+ activity. Recognition may be given
for activities such as: Technical Achievement/Advancement, Teaching,
"Elmering", Public Service, etc. The PNWVHFS Board
of Directors is the jury for these awards. Anyone
may nominate someone for this award. Nominations should
be sent to the Director in which the amateur resides.
He/She will then distribute the nomination to the other members
of the board for discussion. The nominee does not need
to belong to PNWVHFS.
This award will be awarded
annually at the Pacific Northwest VHF conference.
Nominations will open approximately 60 days prior to the conference.

To be considered
for awards and/or to have your contest score posted on the PNWVHFS
Claimed Scores web pages you must submit either of the
following:
1) Complete
log files (just cc: [email protected]
when you submit to ARRL/CQ) OR
2) A contest
summary which includes: Callsign used (include operator info
for Multi-op or Club), Bands worked, Classification
(Single/Multi/Rover
& High/Low/QRP Power), Claimed point total, PNW Grids
worked, PNW Grids worked from.
All submitted
scores will be posted on the PNWVHFS website. Incomplete
submissions will be returned and score will not be
posted until
complete."
