Project week at the Peter Stuyvesant College

From December 2-6, students of PSC participated in project groups, dealing with a variety of subjects like:

	Cooking
	Do healthy snacks exist?
	Music
	Dance
	Architecture, in former days and now
	Norms and dignity, in former days and now
	Communication, in history

VERONA was asked to contribute in the Communication project and did that by presenting the following lectures:

	The evolution of telegraphy and telephony (by Joop PJ2JW)
	The evolution of radio (by Brett PJ2BR)
	The working and a demo of a homebrew crystal radio by Castro PJ2CFM (Castro worked at the PSC as a teacher of economics, guidance counselor and principal)

On the second day a HF and a VHF station was set up in one of the classrooms. Thanks to perfect propagation we had a nice talk with a PA-station in Holland.

The project group, consisting of 8 students, also visited the telephony museum in town, the telephony building and the communication centre.

The project week was closed with a presentation of the results. It was a pleasure to promote our hobby in this way.

N-course 2001-2002 completion

In december 2002 the N-course 2001-2002 was completed. The certified students are:

	Rolando Manuel (PJ2RM) en
	Charleson Heldewier (PJ2CH)

Op bijgaande foto ontvangt Charleson het insigne “Radio-amateur”, opgespeld door Etzel PJ2EP (oud verkenner). In het midden kijkt Hopman Rolando toe.

Rolando is computertechnicus en Hopman bij Scouting Antiano in zijn vrije tijd.

Charleson is een vierdejaars Mavo-student met veel belangstelling voor natuurkunde en elektronica. Hij is een Verkenner in de scoutinggroep van Rolando.

Wij hopen dat de machtigingen spoedig door Bureau Telecommunicatie worden afgegeven.

Proficiat en veel plezier met de nieuwe hobby toegewenst.

Dit evenement is niet meer weg te denken als een samenwerking tussen VERONA en Scouting Antiano maar met medewerking van een lokaal bedrijf waren er ook JOTI-aktiviteiten.

De coordinator voor de JOTA op de Ned. Antillen is Hopman Rolando Manuel. Hij hoopt binnenkort zijn N-licentie met roepnaam PJ2RM te ontvangen

Op het kampterrein “Ronde Klip” hadden verkenners een paaltoren gebouwd van 10 m hoog voor de HF-dipole en een VHF-groundplane.

Etzel PJ2EP kreeg met zijn station PJ2SA hulp van o.a. Castro PJ2CFM, Erwin PJ2WOL, Victor PJ2VR, Brett PJ2BR en Aloisio PJ2AA.

Zoals gewoonlijk waren de meeste kontakten met scouts van eilanden en landen in de regio zoals Aruba, Barbados, Canada, Costa Rica, Colombia, Dominicaanse Rep., Jamaica, Mexico, Portugal, Puerto Rico, San Salvador, St. Maarten, USA en Venezuela.

De uitwisseling met scouts op St. Maarten heeft twee uren geduurd en was zeer geanimeerd. En daar gaat het toch om.
