Viroinval, geographical centre of the European Union

On 6 August 1999 we visited Viroinval on a hot day.
In Viroinval is the "Centre géographique de l'Europe des Quinze".
This centre of the European Union, with fifteen member states, is on these co-ordinates:
Longitude 4º 39' 59" East and  latitude 50º 0' 33" North.
This area is also called Devils Hole (Trou du diable)

From 1995 till 2004-05-01 the EU had these fifteen member states:
Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Ireland, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, United Kingdom and Sweden.

Viroinval, geografisch middelpunt van de Europese Unie. Op 6 aug. 1999 bezochten we Virioinval op een hete dag. In Viroinval is het middelpunt van de Europese Unie met 15 lidstaten op deze coördinaten: 4º 39' 59" OL en 50º 0' 33" NB. Dit gebied wordt ook wel het Duivels Hol genoemd.

Men is er trots op het middelpunt binnen hun grenzen te hebben. Het middelpunt is berekende door het Franse Nationaal Geografisch Instituut. (met twee linkjes)
	The centre of the glass structure is the centre of "Europe of the fifteen". It is called Cathedral of Light (Cathédrale de Lumière), designer is Bernard Tirtiaux. It is surrounded by 15 markers, for each country there's one. 1999-08-06
Het midden van de glasstructuur is het middelpunt van de Europese Unie met 15 lidstaten. Het is genaamd de Kathedraal van Licht, ontwerper is Bernard Tirtiaux. Het wordt omgeven door 15 palen, voor ieder land één.
	The two ladies on the photo are our oldest daughter Laura and my wife Rita. The glass object is straight, but the site is on a slope. That’s why it seems to be leaning over. 1999-08-06
