Frequency doubler 0.1-3GHz or more


Because I had made a 23cm transverter for SSB use, I needed a signal source to optimize the RX signal. My signal generator goes up to 1GHz so this was insufficient.
The need of a frequency doubler was born. Searching through the UHF Unterlage books I found a simple schematic diagram, see photo below.

The actual doubler was made with Shottkey diodes BAT62 instead of the HP2800 types used in the original design:

The components have been put in a metal box which I had from a previous project with N-connectors. For high frequencies I prefer SMA-type connectors.:

The doubled frequency is about 20 to 25dB lower in level than the input signal, as off loss via the diodes, but this still gives enough RF output to optimize transverters or receivers.
