R1150R:

As my R100CS had a hard time keeping up with modern bikes on the "Autobahn" and because it became more unreliable,
I bought another bike, A R1150R as that would fit in the storidge under the appartment.
I could have traded in the R100CS but it wasn't worth that much so I kept it.
So when one bike had his maintenance, I could still ride the other.
Picture below is the bike still standing at the dealer, De Jong in Alphen a/d Rijn.

The bike came with the original BMW touring panniers.
The pannier op the right side is too small. You can't get a Schuberth C3 helmet in. The panier on the left is even smaller.
Some designer thought it would look nice to have the exhaust pointing upwards across the rear wheel. To accomodate for the exhaust they made the left pannier go round it.

I corrected the position of the exhaust and replaced the original panniers with some real ones.

After going to Poland I decieded the windshield on the bike was almost useless.
I searched for an aftermarket fairing that would give me some protection from the wind but wasn't too wide.
The bike still needed to fit in the storage boxes under the appartment.
I found a fairing from Gimbel. There were some warnings concerning their quality.
I had my dealer doing the conversion. The fairing probably was made on order. The painter was complaining his paint would not stick.
I assume fumes from the curing of the material still came out.
You can find some pictures and remarks about the conversion here:
