Deadline time has passed again,and I've received one lone list
of DX. I hope that my rather large list each month isn't acting
to discourage members from sending in smaller reports. It's meant
to show how much DX there is available for you to try for. Later
in the column appears a chart that will enable one to get a fair
idea of the MUF based on skip distances for the pagers with Es.
I hope to lure some of the TV and FM DXers into using the pagers
as I do for MUF indications. Maybe I'll get a few more reports.

KFL 943 and KRC 975 are not pagers but are close to 35 MHz.
In 1967 at the U. of Texas at Austin I devised and had run some
simple computer programs on a CDC 6600 dealing with Es MUF and skip
distances. Non-tilted Es at 105 km gave the following results.

To use the chart, suppose you have 43.58 skip down to 600 miles,
this means the Es should skip 60.14 MHz at 1420 miles (the maximum
one-hop distance). Remember the Es must be at the midpoint of any
path so getting short skip on 43 MHz will not always give you TV Es.
The F2 opening to KUA 217 this time of year is really a freak.
F2 this fall may be better than expected.
