Six Meters in Austria:

Brief History:

1988-01-01: Official permission for receiving the Six Meter amateur radio band.

1990-02-01: Provisory permission for transmitting, following conditions imposed:

Frequency range: 50 - 52 MHz, secondary basis, modes: A1A, J2B, F1B, J3E (CW and SSB).
Maximum power: 25W (PEP) into a directional antenna (Yagi) with 3 or more(!) elements, horizontal polarisation only.
Wide local restrictions around Austrias only TV-station on channel E2: "Jauerling" in JN78 square.
Neither other national nor international radio services must be disturbed.
Transmissions allowed at fixed licensed locations of Austrian amateur radio stations only.
This means, no mobile or portable operation, no CEPT licenses too.
During the transmit mode, the license owner or station responsible person must be attainable by telephone at any time, in order to be able to arrange an immediate disconnection of the amateur radio station in case of disturbances, which means practically no beacons or repeaters.

1996-08-01: Restrictet area for transmitting reduced to large parts of OE3, a bit of OE1 and OE5 (see dotted sector at the map below)
max. power increased to 100W (PEP).

2006-02-02: more modes, including packet radio and FM: J2D, F1D, F2E, F3E, J3E
no more restrictions about antenna and polarisation
permission for mobile operation with lambda/4 antenna
repeaters and beacons with 10 W ERP max.

2008-11-12: No restrictions concerning area, antenna, operation mode and mobile operation anymore.
Visitors from abroad with CEPT license class1 are allowed to use the band.
