My electricity supplier generates my electricity from 99.88% hydropower.
An example is its Danube power plant with reservoir in Vienna.
After a hy-gain thunderbird TH3-MK3 (1980-2008) and a hy-gain patriot AV-620 (2011-2022) my new (2022) Cushcraft R6000 vertical, and an old Fritzel W3-2000 multiband inverted Vee dipole look at the Vienna Woods.
I have used the following transceivers:
an Icom IC-7410 in Vienna,
an Icom IC-7300 as OE4WWL,
an Icom IC-703 (10 W, in contests 5 W) with a microHam digi keyer as 9V1OE (2008-2019) and for suitcase dxpeditions,
a dual bander IC-T70E for portable operations.
I use a Lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) battery for portable operations and some contests.
I confirm all new contacts with a QSL card via the bureau.
I upload all eQSL cards weekly (and confirm old eQSLs manually).
Of course I answer direct cards directly.
For the digital modes FT4, FT8, MSK144, JT9 and JT65 I prefer WSJT-X written by J. Taylor K1JT, S.J. Franke K9AN et al.
In 2016 (updated in March 2024) I wrote a program jtxdupes in C to show duplicate call signs. And new call signs in red.
In 2018 I modified my program - for their new version FT8 2.0 with 77 bits - which even works with special call signs, like a thousand years of Zeil am Main:
092615 -11 0.1 1297 ~ CQ DF1000ZEIL
181003_092630 Transmitting 7.078 MHz FT8: OE4WWL
092645 -10 0.1 1298 ~ OE4WWL -11
181003_092700 Transmitting 7.078 MHz FT8: OE4WWL R-10
092715 -6 0.1 1297 ~ DF1000ZEIL RRR
181003_092730 Transmitting 7.078 MHz FT8: DF1000ZEIL 73
092745 -7 0.1 1297 ~ DF1000ZEIL 73
181003_092800 Transmitting 7.078 MHz FT8: 40 W INV L TU
092815 -8 0.1 1297 ~ CQ DF1000ZEIL
I tried JS8 (75 bits) with the program JS8Call written by J. Sherer KN4CRD.
I also tried Vara Chat (VarAC), SIM31 and many legacy digital modes.
Meanwhile I also used JTDX and MSHV. And sometimes still fldigi.
During phone contests I appreciate the N1MM Logger+ by Tom. It sends stored wave files and controls my IC-7410 via a USB link. The so called "Simple Voicing" protects even better the sleep of my family by automatically calling CQ and sending serial numbers and spelling call signs, including my own.
