MultiFAX MF-R1 Receiver
MultiFAX MF-R1 Weather Satellite Receiver
This is a high quality, low cost VHF Weather Satellite
Receiver for capturing images from NOAA and Meteor polar orbiting
satellites as well as WEFAX images from GOES and MeteoSAT geostationary
satellites when used with a 1691-137.5 MHz downconverter.
- BANDWIDTH: MultiFAX started with an off-the-shelf scanner
and completely re-engineered the filtering to optimize the
receiver for weather satellite image capture. This is NOT the
usual "remove the ceramic filter and put in a capacitor" patch but a
true custom designed set of filters for the purpose of receiving the
polar and geostationary weather satellites.
- FINE TUNING FOR GOES: To accommodate frequency output
variations of typical downconverters, fine tuning around the
output frequency (normally 137.5 MHz) is a must for a
GOES/Meteosat receiver. Because of its synthesized tuning
in 5 KHz steps, the MF-R1 is ideal for use with a 1691-137.5
MHz downconverter for GOES and Meteosat images.
- PREAMP POWER: A switched 12 VDC output is provided at the
antenna input for powering an antenna pre-amp with no extra
wiring! A low noise pre-amp is recommended for most APT
antenna setups and 12 volt output at the antenna jack is
perfect for many antenna/preamp configurations.
- AUDIO OUTPUT: The audio stage has been redesigned to
provide two independently adjustable output audio
amplifiers: one for the built-in speaker and one for the
demodulator input. No extra amplifiers required for most
applications.
- PROGRAMMABLE TUNING: The MF-R1 has 90 user programmable
frequency channels - perfect for automatic scanning or
manual frequency selection.
- PRICE: Because of the significant savings provided by
starting with an off-the-shelf scanner, we can offer this
high quality receiver at an incredible price: $249 (plus $6
S&H in US). DON'T LET THE LOW PRICE FOOL YOU! This is a
serious, high performance weather satellite receiver capable
of capturing very high quality images. The MF-R1 is
warranted against manufacturing defects in parts and
workmanship for a period of 90 days. NOTE: Because of the
significant redesign of this unit, many of the original
manufacturer's specifications (tuning range, selectivity)
have been altered. The MF-R1 has a useful tuning range of
137.00 MHz to 138.00 MHz only.
