I went on Dialysis the same day that NY and DC were attacked
on 9/11/2001, yes what a bad day to start dialysis. People ask me when I
I first started doing Dialysis, thats an easy question..... Who can not remember
that very very bad day in history!!!!!!
The one big problem with "Dialysis" is that you have to schedule
your whole life around your "Dialysis Schedule" for me I am
on dialysis three times a week, on tue,thur and sat at 4:00pm
thru 815pm on those three nights... You can not live with out
dialysis, because you'll die with in 1-to-6 months if you
fail to do your dialysis as it is scheduled. Even missing
just one dialysis treatment per month is very very bad
You are in extreme danger of getting sick if you miss just one
dialysis treatment... When you have kidney failure, you can not
get rid of the various chemicals and medications, etc.......
Dialysis is cleaning of the blood, and removal of fluid
treatments are for 4 hours per treatment...
I find it to be very depressing at times, because of many reasons
I love to travel, but with dialysis it becomes a real problem.
You plan a trip, you get everything set up, then dialysis in ????
out of state says that they can not get you in, you have to work
very hard to set up dialysis , sometimes up to 100 to 190 miles
away for dialysis, 4 hours of driving, 4 1/2 hours on dialysis,
and 4 hours driving back to your motel, you kill 13 hours every
other day just to live, you need dialysis......
Thats also why getting a new kidney is so important......
I am glad I have a health plan and medicare, because the cost
for dialysis is about $15,000.00 per month , and it is all covered.
I would hate to get a $15,000.00 bill each month for my dialysis
to be continued in my next update, called "2006 dialysis update"
