Getting NM State Parks On Board with Amateur Radio!
![]() Hello! Welcome to the State Parks Project Page! This project is to get state parks in New Mexico on board with a well rounded back-up emergency communications setup using Amateur Radio! This project has been started due to the lack of available 911 service inside of most of the state parks, this is due to the lack of cell phone service. This project is dedicated to getting emergency communications into these remote locations. Having this capability will allow Licensed Amateur Radio Operators to use this system along with Park Staff who will also be licensed. We are currently tageting Park Rangers and Park Managers to get them licensed so if the need arises they will have the ability to communicate via the repeaters. So who is involved in this project? So far I am the only one involved in this project from the Amateur Radio side, although the Sugarite Canyon State Park manager is also involved on his end to help me get approval to place radio equipment on the Government Property. What is needed for this project? Right now what is needed is more Amateur Radio Operators in New Mexico to get on board and help complete this project. We are also in need of donated equipment or funds to get the required radio transmitter equipment to make this work in these mountain areas. Please also see below for a equipment needs list.
