Weather Pictures
These images where captured by Dave(GW7PNY) using a receiver and a computer's sound card to decode the data information sent and a little help from a program called WXSAT. Dave has captured these images using simple equipement that is all probably quite common to most of us. Why don't you have a go yourselves?
The majority of weather satellites send there images back to Earth in black and white, it is then coloured by a computer to give the coloured satelite pictures that we are a customed too.

Why not give it a go?
All you need is a receiver/scanner that can listen around the 137-138 MHz band, a computer with a sound card and the WXSAT program which you should be able to download form our programs downlink page. If you connect the speaker extension from the reciver/scanner via a lead to the 'line in' on your computer's soundcard - that's it! Follow the instructions of the program and away to go!!
Here are a few of the Weather Satellite Radio Frequencies that NOAA, Meteor, Cosmos, Okean & Sich 1 use:
137.120 MHz FM 137.350 MHz FM 137.400 MHz FM
137.500 MHz FM 137.620 MHz FM 137.770 MHz FM
137.850 MHz FM
You don't need to be licensed Radio Ham to receive any of this data. You do need to be licensed to transmit!
Good site to check out too see, how with the proper equipement, what your wx images could look like.
