Hi, I'm Kenny Gillen, I am 17 and I live in the small town of Girvan on the south west coast of Scotland.

From my home QTH I can work a few 2m FM repeaters, GB3AY in Ayr, GB3KA in Galston and GB3NI in Belfast. I regulary use GB3AY as it is the best signal strength. I am also very interseted in SSTV and data modes. I decode a lot of SSTV on 20m, I find it fascinating. Have a look at some of my better decoded cards here.

I am an active member of Dumfries and Galloway RAYNET and am a member of the Wigtownshire amateur radio club (GM4RIV). I like hillwalking and taking my radios for VHF/UHF DX'peditions. I surf the net and program web pages when I'm not playing radios, I love working with technology in and out of school and I enjoy programming in my spare time.

I have QSO'd through the SAFEX repeater aboard the soviet MIR space station. I have got no QSL card though as I was mobile and can't remember the station's suffix, the prefix was DL(x), or time that I worked him. I was using a YAESU FT-50r H/T with about 2.5w and a "rubber duck" antenna, nothing fancy. My older brother Martin 2M1FTX's page is here. He does not have his full license yet due to unsuitible RAE exam times, but he is going to take it ASAP.

 

My station consists of a Yaesu FT-900 HF transceiver with a TimeWave D.S.P filter, a Yaesu FT-902DM valved HF transeiver, a Yaesu FT-50r HT, a scanning reciever, linear amplifier and lots of other peices of kit. My antennae setup is consists of a 1/2 size G5RV dipole sloping up to the roof of my house and a Watson W-50 dual band co-linear on top of the house. These provide excellent results and I am yet to try out the G5RV on transmit, due to lack of 12wpm morse! -.- Hovever, I soon hope to rectify the situation, as my morse test is on the 14th November 2000! :)
