Maine ARES Training
A training and certification program has been instituted within Maine ARES.
The program helps ECs and DECs better track their human assetts as far as their training and cetification as well as providing ARES members with certificates that reflect their level of training within Maine ARES.
There are five levels of training and certification within Maine ARES. These are:
Trainee - No formal training in either emergency communications or ICS and NIMS
Amateur Radio License only
Responder - Has completed the following courses:
Introduction to Emergency Communications
Maine Emergency Communications Course, Level
I
or
ARRL EC-001
and
IS-100b (Introduction to the Incident Command System)
IS-700a (Introduction to the National Incident Management System)
Leadership - Has completed the following courses:
Maine Emergency Communications Course, Level II
or
ARRL EC-002
and
IS-200b (Basic Incident
Command System)
Management - Has completed the following courses:
Maine Emergency Communications Course, Level III
Maine ARES Leadership Course
or
ARRL
EC-003
and
ICS-300 (Intermediate Incident Command System)
IS-704 (NIMS Communications and Information Management)
IS-800b (Introduction
to the National Response Plan)
Senior Management - Has completed the following courses:
ICS-400 (Advanced Incident Command System)
All Hazards Type III Communications
Unit Leader course
The Trainee level is for those that have just joined and have had no formal training
The Responder level is for those who are regular ARES responders
The Leadership level is for AECs, OESs, Group Supervisors and Team Leaders
The Management level is for ECs and DECs
TheSenior Management level is for ASECs and the SEC
To obtain a certificate:
Individual ARES members:
Send a copy of your certificates for courses completed.
For ECs and DECs:
Send
a list of those members (names and call signs) that you are requesting certificates for and their respective levels of training.
