A little bit more about me, I was in the Royal Navy from 10 Jan 1978 until 1st Mar
1982. I joined at HMS Raleigh in Torpoint Cornwall.Think I was in rattler division but can't for the life of me remeber. I remember travelling for about 8 hours on the train to get there from here in Middlesbrough to Plymouth and then the trip on the Torpoint ferry....1st sea time hihi. It was a miserable night even the Tamar was rough. We where collected by bus and taken to Raleigh all nice like....cup of tea.... cake/biscuit....very homely like....but then you sign your life away and thats it. Go through there collect your kit (1size fits all) and to put the icing on the cake I had toothache all night so when the CPO/PO instructor rattled his stick on a locker at about 5am the next morn I didnt really want to play !! Anyway dentist sorted that out very quickly. More paper work and introduction to the mob...I was in and they wanted to show me that by giving me the lousiest hair cut ide ever had hihi. But to be honnest I enjoyed it all. In these pages ille try to tell you some bits about it...lets just say it was fun MOST of the way. |
