New Officer Elected - Joey Johnston KC5MVZ was elected to the office of Vice-Chairman at the May 1999 meeting. Joey brings many talents to his new office. The club is very fortunate to have him as an officer... Congradulations Joey!

Buffallo Springs Lake Half-Ironman Triathalon - Members of the LACC met in the fire station at Buffallo on June 27th at 5 am to prepare to do communications for the Triathalon. Members dispersed to their assigned locations at around 6 am. Josh Herring KC5VKA started the race by blowing the horn on a Greer Industries Cotton Module Truck at 6:30 am. During the course of the race team members helped many triathalon participants due to heat exaustion and mechanical breakdown. Race officials were very pleased with the effort the club provided... We'll see you again next year at Buffallo!

LACC 6 Meter Repeater - At the July meeting Joey Johnston KC5MVZ installed his 6 meter/440 repeater at Rick Roy KB5KYJ's house. The repeater is a joint effort by Joey and Rick for the club and the South Plains ham community. The repeater can be found on 441.1 simplex and is linked into 6 meters, the imput is 52.150, output 51.150. Hope to see you on the repeater!

LACC Special Event - At the July meeting the Lubbock County RACES/ARES Emergency Coordinator (Clinton Thetford N5UQF) asked the LACC to setup a special event station at the 73rd Panhandle South Plains Fair. The station will be held one full day at the fair (to be announced). The Caprock Repeater Club Emergency Communications trailer will be manned by hams throughout the week, including members of the Lubbock Amateur Contest Club, Lubbock Amateur Radio Club, and Skywarn, in effort to educate the general public about amateur radio...
