Tonight's District nets from the Lomita Sheriff Station starting at 1930 hours are using the 2-meter W6TRW repeater cross-linked with the 440 Rolling Hills repeater, concurrently with 2-meter TAC-1 simplex; then starting at 1945 hours our 220 simplex frequency with an NBEMS digital message sent after the voice net; at about 1955 hours the 440 PV-West repeater; and concluding at about 2000 hours with another NBEMS message on 2-meter TAC-1 simplex. All DCS members and members of the South Bay's city-affiliated disaster amateur radio groups and encouraged to check in on as many frequencies as practical from their location.

We are saddened to report our long-time former member Dale Hanks, N6NNW and T-57, passed away last Friday at age 98 following a lengthy illness. Dale retired from DCS late last year and had served as the amateur radio City Radio Officer for Rancho Palos Verdes during 2000-2025. He was instrumental in getting the RPV Emergency Communication Center funded and built at City Hall, as well as the N6RPV 440 repeater site atop San Pedro Hill. A memorial service for Dale will be Monday, April 6, at 1030 hours in the LDS Church, 5845 Crestridge Road, Rancho Palos Verdes, followed by burial at Green Hills Cemetery at 1230 hours. The family advises all are welcome at Dale's service and burial.

Caos Capital has filed three FCC applications for experimental licenses to transmit 2.7 MHz-wide radar signals at 3 kW ERP, 10 kW peak power, anywhere in the 420-450 MHz ham band, for 6 months from April 15 to October 15. They propose three transmit locations in L.A. County: Hermosa Beach, Hawthorne, and El Segundo, and one at Desert Center in Riverside County. It is true that the Federal government is primary in the 70cm ham band, but Caos is asking for experimental licenses which must operate on a non-interference basis with licensed operators. We must continue to be vigilant and file FCC consumer complaints when we experience interference; never more important than now. We are aware that ARRL, the national amateur radio association, has made FCC filings to deny the new Caos requests.

We encourage all members to use the 440 PV-West repeater during non-net hours to keep this frequency active. We would like to ensure PV-West's frequency isn't encroached by another repeater.
